2024 ACT General Assembly

Working in concert towards justice

 

In 2024, ACT Alliance hosted its 4th General Assembly in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, graciously
hosted by member YAKKUM. The Assembly brought together members working in over 127
countries, reaffirming ACT’s Global Strategy Hope in Action: Putting People First and our
collective commitment to stand together for justice amid growing global crises.

Discussions focused on protecting civic space, upholding human dignity and rights, advancing
gender, social, economic, and climate justice, and pursuing decolonisation within the Alliance. The
Assembly concluded with a strong resolve to continue working towards a just, inclusive, sustainable, and peaceful world.

Key outcomes

Approval of 18 public statements
New Governing Board
Membership and Nominations Committee

The approval of 18 public statements addressing priorities such as the situations in Ukraine and
Palestine, tax justice, and climate change. These statements are an opportunity for the members
to outline priorities, positions and define engagement on a  variety of topics.

Youth Pre-Assembly

For the first time, young people fully participated in the Assembly, beginning with a youth pre-
assembly where over 40 youth from more than 30 countries gathered to strengthen local
engagement and build a strong youth movement at regional and global levels.

Our 4th General Assembly Hosting Member - YAKKUM

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to YAKKUM for hosting ACT Alliance’s 4th General Assembly in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Established in 1950 by the Javanese Christian Churches (GKJ) Synod and Indonesian Christian Churches (GKI) Synod of the Central Java Region, YAKKUM – the Christian Foundation for Public Health is a church-based organisation dedicated to public health and humanitarian service.
Guided by the philosophy “serving with heart,” YAKKUM strives to ensure no one is left behind in accessing health care. Its values are anchored in Christian character, business ethics, and a culture of continuous learning, driven by the belief that their work is an extension of the church to reveal God’s love to all peopleyouth participation. These refinements were endorsed, extending the Strategy’s relevance through 2027.
