Plus 1 (+1) principle

In the nominations and elections process approved by the Governing Board in 2016, a “Plus 1 Principle” was elaborated which strongly encourages members and forums to ensure that for each regional group of seats available, at least + 1 candidates are put forward. This is particularly relevant for regions which have functioning regional forums who coordinate the nomination of candidates at a regional level. The reason for the +1 principle is to enable the MNC to have some choice when preparing the slate for elections so that gender balance etc can be taken into consideration.
