All genders face safety and security threats. The risk level can vary based on cultural conditions, economic status, legal concerns, age, local situation and a multitude of other factors.

Clearly it is wrong to assume that one gender faces more risk than another. Some risks are the same and others are specific, but all are serious.

Understanding the drivers and how our own bias can drive these threats is the first step in addressing them.
